About Me

My name is Taher /teɪɚ/. I’m a machine learning engineer & researcher from Edmonton, Canada. I work at Huawei’s Noah’s Ark Lab where I’m building applications of machine learning to autonomous driving. I graduated with a master’s in statistical machine learning from the University of Alberta under the incredible supervision of Mike Bowling and Martha White. Before that I completed a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics from the University of Toronto. Way before that, I enjoyed the sun, sand, surf, and seafood of the pearl of the Indian ocean, Sri Lanka.

I love programming, learning, research, and writing among other things. I’m grateful to have a job that allows me to enjoy these things every day! Apart from all that, I really enjoy Ultimate Frisbee (you should join your local league!), going to the gym, food, and, most of all, socialising.
